Zone 12 Hunter-Jumper Division Specifications

Contiguous States:

Zone 12 chooses no contiguous states. This means that riders cannot earn points for Zone 12 standings by competing in horse shows in Washington State or Canadian provinces.

Like other USEF zones, Zone 12 also has the right to set the specifications for certain USEF divisions, as shown below.

Adult Amateur Hunter:

Open to horses and ponies. All entrants must be ridden by amateur exhibitors in possession of a current USEF amateur card. To be shown over a minimum of eight obstacles 2'9" in height, spreads not to exceed height of obstacle. To be judged on performance and soundness; manners and suitability will be emphasized; extreme speed shall be penalized. Horses not to jog. Adult Amateur Hunter classes may be combined with Children's Hunter classes.

Children's Hunter:

Open to horses and ponies. All entrants must be ridden by Junior exhibitors in all phases of the class. To be shown over a minimum of eight obstacles 2'9" in height, spreads not to exceed height of obstacle. To be judged on performance and soundness; manners and suitability will be emphasized; extreme speed shall be penalized. Horses not to jog. Children's Hunter classes may be combined with Adult Amateur Hunter classes.

Children’s Jumper: Fences to be set at a specific height within the corresponding Level

Open to horses and ponies. Any horse and pony regardless of money won is eligible to compete in this division. All entrants must be ridden by junior exhibitors. Classes to be conducted per USEF rules, Jumper Division. Entrants to be shown over a minimum of eight obstacles at Level 1 fence dimensions. Children’s Jumper classes may be combined with Adult Amateur Jumper classes.

Adult Amateur Jumper: Fences to be set at a specific height within the corresponding Level

Open to horses and ponies. Any horse and pony regardless of money won is eligible to compete in this division. All entrants must be ridden by amateur exhibitors in possession of a current USEF Amateur Card. Classes to be conducted per USEF rules, Jumper Division. Entrants to be shown over a minimum of eight obstacles at Level 1 fence dimensions. Adult Amateur Jumper classes may be combined with Children’s Jumper classes.

Qualifying to represent Zone 12 at Pony Jumper National Championship:

Criteria: Pony Jumper classes held at USEF Licensed regular competitions starting on or between June 2nd, 2007, and June 1st, 2008. GR 905.2 will be waived for Pony Jumper classes held in Zone 12 for the Pony Jumper National Championship standings. [Translation: Class points will count even if the class does not fill.] Pony/Rider combinations must complete at least two Level 2 and one Level 3 class at a USEF Licensed competition during the qualifying period. The Level 3 class requirement will be waived if no Level 3 class is held on or between January 1, 2008 and June 1, 2008 in Zone 12.
